I had nice time studing there in 1983 and 1984 I had my CPL from CST

Great day out

Perth Airport is rapidly developing as the centre of aviation activity and expertise. Owned by Morris Leslie Group, and operated by ACS Aviation, the airport is home to a commercial flight training organisation, aircraft engineering facility, the Scottish Aero Club, Alba Airsports, Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance and the internationally renowned Air Service Training Engineering College.

I live in Scone now and recall an aerobatic competition for University Air Squadrons, probably in 1965 or 1966. I was a member of the Aberdeen Squadron and don't recall the white tie bit, but there was a lively celebration which left a future airline pilot wondering where he could get his suit invisibly mended

Checking my log book, 25th March 1966 the entry under Captain was a flight from Leuchars to Scone; what was most remarkable though was when we had a joint Scottish Universities Air Squadrons white-tie & tails Ball in Scone hosted by an RAF Air Marshall. Early on the C/O of Glasgow UAS a Wing Commander, came over & called me by name, he said he new my pater a Flight Lieutenant during the War in '44! Later, we were four couples per table, a tower of eight Champagne glasses was built & filled by a chap @ my table, who turned & declared 'look Sir' @ which point his tail caught the tower & it crashed over his lady's gown & she burst into a cascade of tears: my lady escorted her to the ladies' room. Those were the 'bloody days' in Scone. Congratulations on winning the Scottish Cup,Prof Max Hugh Settelen, B.Sc.(Eng.) Edinburgh, MBA WhartonFmr Pilot Officer City of Edinburgh (603) & University Air Squadrons
